Axial Flux Motor is an air-cooled axial flux inrunner motor designed specifically for industrial applications that demand extremely high continuous power density in a compact and highly reliable package. Compared to traditional radial flux motors, the Axial Flux Motor offers significantly *higher efficiency, reducing energy losses and optimizing overall system performance. Its axial flux topology enables a much smaller and lighter design without sacrificing power output, making it an ideal choice for applications where space is limited. Built for industrial use, the Axial Flux Motor is engineered for durability, featuring a long operational lifespan and a robust construction with high ingress protection, ensuring reliable operation even in harsh environments.

Axial Flux AC Motor

Stackable Design for Enhanced Power Output

Our Axial Flux Motors feature a stackable design, allowing multiple motor to be stacked together to significantly increase power output. This modular approach provides flexibility to scale the motor’s performance to meet specific application requirements. By combining several motor stacks, you can achieve higher power density while maintaining the same compact form factor.

Axial Flux AC Motor

Axial Flux AC Motor vs Radial Flux AC Motor

Why it is Axial Flux AC Motor better (IE5 class) choice than Radial Flux AC Motor (IE3 class)

Electric motors in factories consume around 70% of the total electricity used in industry. On a global scale, electric motors in industry account for around 30% of global electricity consumption. This includes motors used to drive pumps, fans, compressors, conveyors and other industrial applications. For this reason, much attention is being paid to the energy efficiency of electric motors and the optimisation of their drives (e.g. using frequency converters), which can make a significant contribution to reducing energy consumption.

The most common motors in industry today are conventional asynchronous electric motors, which consume about 7–10% of the electricity they use. Axial flux motors will be an important alternative to conventional asynchronous motors in the future, especially in applications where high-power density and energy efficiency are an advantage.

Our Axial Flux Motor has an electrical efficiency in the optimum speed range of 95–98%, which is up to 10% more efficient than a conventional AC motor. Due to the high torque at different speeds, there is no need for belt transmission, thus increasing efficiency by up to 30%. In addition, it is approx. 83% smaller and lighter compared to a 37 kW radial motor, which allows it to be integrated in process equipment where space and/or weight are limited.

The Axial Flux Motor is designed both as new installation or OEM and retrofit applications, where the investment payback is within 9-20 months depending on the application.

Electric motors in factories consume around 70% of the total electricity used in the industry.

Key Advantages

High Efficiency

Axial flux motors can achieve efficiencies more than 95% to 98% – IE5 Ultra-Premium Efficiency. This is important for applications where as much energy as possible needs to be converted into useful work.

Compactivity and High-Power Density

Axial flux motors can be very compact, allowing them to develop a high amount of power in a smaller space. This is very useful for applications where space is limited, such as in mechanical engineering and the automotive industry.

High Ratio of Torque/Mass and Torque/Space

Axial flux motors have a high ratio of torque/mass and torque/space, which means they can develop the same amount of torque as radial motors at a smaller size.

Modularity and Redundancy

Axial flux motors can be combined in multiple layers, allowing for modularity and redundancy. This means that individual parts can operate independently, ensuring that the entire system continues to function even in the event of a single part failure.

Low Loss and High Durability

Axial flux motors have low losses due to their geometry and minimal friction, which contributes to their high efficiency and durability.

Reducing Logistical Costs and CO₂ Emissions Over the Entire Delivery Route

Axial flux motors are 5x lighter in weight compared to conventional asynchronous motors and up to 35x smaller in volume for the same power output, representing concrete transport savings in all aspects.
