Grinding the spindle head taper of a CNC machine

The grinding angle is set automatically on our machine, which means that high repeatability is guaranteed. In doing so, the device relies on an optical encoder with an accuracy of ±1.5″ to ±3″-> with a repeatability of 0.001°. The device is controlled via an HMI (human machine interface) display and the processing is done by a PLC (programmable logic controller). Adjustments can be made to the stroke length during grinding, to the various feed speeds and rotational speeds and, if necessary, to the micro-adjustments of the grinding angle.

The operator is able to use the device independently after a relatively short training period.

The repair of the taper geometry of a CNC machine can be carried out in a very short time, which means huge savings for the machine owner.
