The answer is not exactly the same for everyone, but it is close: although water itself is seemingly harmless, it can cause significant, sometimes irreparable damage.
As it is not possible to see from the outside where water has penetrated under the casing, the motor must be completely disassembled, inspected, measured, etc.
Depending on the condition found, the second step is to remediate the water residues (dried minerals), perhaps sanding the most sensitive parts, lubricating and reassembling the whole thing.
Finally, there is a mandatory test, a report and, importantly, a one-year warranty.
